Lifecycles

One of the main challenges of entrepreneurship is the change in their operating environment. This change causes lots of failure. We go from task-oriented to organizationally-oriented roles. Complexity increases, individual contribution reduces. Required skills change. Loss of control. More communication.

Identify all of the vectors where change occurs - perhaps a job analysis at various stages.

Stages:

1. Pre-emergence
2. Initial formation
3. Small team
4. Larger team
5. Organizational hierarchy

Are there critical incidents that distinguish between levels? Where's the org theory on this topic?

Gartner 1985 covers some of the stages, but not meaningfully. Vecchio 2003 talks about the need to investigate this.
